Random idea grew from fiddling with a shelved kit...  Since I'm working on creating a workshop presentation to teach modeling building at AX...

My stupid brain came up with this:  The Vet...

That's pretty funny. The crutch is a neat touch.

I like it a lot. Might be more "real" with a long bazooka or the Ground Gundam long gun as a crutch.

Damnit, nice didn't even think about using a bazooka or rilfe for the "crutch"  I'll have to dig through my spare parts box to see how that would look.  Thanks FF.

edit Ok just snapped together the 79-G's long rifle and the a-typical gundam bazooka.  THe look is there, but significant mods are needed to make the gun support the weight of the leaning Lt. Dan.  Too much work involved to get this finished within a week for AX.  I guess the final vignette will make more sense with the actual crutch...

More updates as I finish shaping the crutch, painting the crutch and finishing up the other odds and ends.

Before I even read any replies I was thinking that a drop plane's wing or weapon would make a better crutch.

Anyway, great idea!  It'll be a great piece for your workshop.

too funny . Forest Gump definitely comes to mind. I think more people will get the idea if you use a crutch instead of a rifle. however a rifle would still be cool.
Got Gunze?

Too many people have suggested the rifle/weapon as a crutch thingy... so I'm kinda glad I kept with the crutch :)  'Path less traveled' kind of thinking....

Ok update:  Finished the crutch and the base.  Right now I have a shiny and clean wet looking base... which I think is a nice contrast to the dirty Vet.  Still wondering if I should go ahead and weather it or not.  What do you guys think?

Here are some new progress shots:

Maybe some slight weathering, but I don't think anything too heavy.

Maybe have oil dripping out of the leg, though? That'd be pretty cool.

My suggestion would be have some oil stains and possible a couple of bandages or something to that sense.

Oh man! the bandages would hit the spot.. it'll be a pretty funny kit actually. An SD would suit this idea
