Hey all...

So I'm in a little dilemma here. I've just finished a 1/144 Rx-121 Titans Custom (Hazel) and the pose I'm thinking of is him standing with his back to a wall reloading his grenade launcher. It sounded pretty good on paper (was going to somehow make little bricks and build a wall out of them) until I remembered that Gundam’s are HUGE and walls are not Sad

Now I'm hoping someone has a great idea of some sort of object that my Hazel can have his back to (a building maybe but I think I'm too new to kits to build a good looking skyscraper, just end my making the build look worse).

Thanks!

I'd suggest some sort of hanger bay interior (would be nice if you can make some sort of opening to suggest the Hazel hiding inside hanger to reload).  It should be most a flat surface with vents/grills in some places, also some ducts and rails. The rest are just panels.  Should be easier than either the bricks or the skyscrapper options.

The following excellent dioramas might give you more ideas:

FF's PG Zaku II
U-recca's PG GP-01

Hope this helps somewhat.

Great thanks Maj. Blah, that looks like something do-able.

Not going to go as grand as FF or U-recca's because I'm on a mean deadline here but I think I'll try building a smaller version of U-recca's half cube (looking at my Hazel I'm guessing somewhere between 12cmx15cmx15cm [That’s 4.7''x4.7''x5.9'' for the people too lazy to do the conversion])

Going to check out U-recca's HOWTO on the hanger wall and see what my shopping list is going to look like :p . Anyone got any tips for going into this diorama project?

Thanks

Just make sure you measure twice and cut once. I had a great-looking hangar-wall that was going to be my Hazel display, and I wasn't paying attention to the silly thing's backpack dimensions. The end result was that the Hazel didn't fit on the base along with the backdrop. I ended up having to make a new base with no wall behind it.

If you want to go with a brick wall in 1/144 try this -

They're not to any particular scale (although they look 1/100 if not 1/144), so they may not be appropriate in and of themselves, but the Mechanical Chain Base series of bases can give you ideas about what a Gundam-scale hangar wall might look like.
