Any thoughts on the upcoming master grade gundam wing and hg 1/144 gundam x? I think I'll pass on the master grade wing as looks too plain for me and still reminds of the time when north america try to milk gundam for all it was worth:p.

I don't understand this, America tried to milk Gundam for all it was worth? I think we just got Wing and MSG (plus the already-dubbed 0080/0083) in that time - sure it was popular, but I'd consider that a good thing, many of us wouldn't have a clue about Gundam if not for its trend-like rise in popularity in the late 90s due to Wing. I think it's a big shame that it didn't last longer, If it was still that popular I would think Bandai would see a need to release its kits domestically as they did back then and perhaps those kits would be available at cheaper prices domestically. That and... I'd really like Gundam Senki for the PS3, UC: Gundam Online for the PC and Gihren's Greed in English...

I'm a huge fan of the gundam x series so I'll definitely get on this line. I jus hope we see some more wing series ver ka kits like the sandrock n deathscythe. I'd also love to see an x divider and double x or even a hg 1/144 falcon unit

I've never been a fan of any of the Wing designs outside of Deathscythe, until that gets an MG (in Ka, EW and Okawara flavors) I'm just not interested in any Wing MGs. As for X, I used to have one of the old no-grade X 1/144 kits they released back then and... ugh... I'm glad it's getting an HG, I think I'll buy it when I clear my MG backlog.

PCELL!!!! Long time no see man! Build anything lately? Looking forward to more "pcell blue".

The MG Wing... pass. Just not digging the shape. Although hopefully it'll lead to something cool like an MG Tallgeese.

Never saw X so I'm indifferent. Plus it's 1/144 and I'm more of a 1/100 builder myself.

Here's hoping.  I finished snapping my 1/100 falcon a while back and man does it leave a LOT to be desired compared to modern engineering (1/144 Meteor is pure love; the 00 equivalents are even more awesome).  I'm definitely going to be getting the X when it comes out, too.

As far as MG Wing goes, meh.  Though Wing did bring Gundam to the US, I've always found it and G to be pretty crappy shows (the mech design are fairly decent, but the show ruined them for me).  I laughed so hard when I first watched X and heard the Wing "machine gun" sfx...

As far as wishing we still had domestically released Plamo, I think the price factor alone would be enough for us to still be importing.  Aside from when I got a bunch of MGs on clearance from Amazon (Kampfer for $30 was the most expensive one I got; all the rest around $10) I found in that time frame that domestic kits were MORE expensive than it was to import.  We do still have domestic release gundam kits, though.  Look at the SD Sangokuden line...  It's rare to find them, but my local Hobbywave usually will get some in.

I saw it also.  It doesn't look that interesting from what I saw.  Seams every where. Looked like a huge HG model to me.

That's the basic idea.  7800 yen isn't exactly cheap, but how much would a kit of this size cost if it were a MG?  Or a PG?  Three times as much, easily...  Even the Glorious Series Rick Dom was almost 20,000 yen, and that was basically sub-MG. That's the advantage of a kit that's a "huge HG".  If you can employ a few modeler's skills and deal with the kit's limitations, then you get a lot for your money.

Wow... that was fast. Postman just delivered my 1/48 Gundam. I couldn't figure out why I was getting such a huge box already. Thought I chose SAL. Size must have dictated EMS.

What's the 1/48 actually like? Is it really like a huge HG kit?

What's the 1/48 actually like? Is it really like a huge HG kit?

It doesn't have an internal frame like a MG would, and it has seam lines down the middle of various parts (i.e. lower legs, forearms, beam rifle, beam sabers, etc.).  Basically it's a "High Grade" in the same sense that, for instance, the 1:60 scale Exia could be considered basically a "High Grade".  But since it's a big scale kit, it's easier for them to produce fine details in-scale than it would be for a HG in 1:144 - so in that sense it's not exactly "High Grade" IMO...

It's also relatively low on gimmicks - no core fighter or cockpit, for instance.

Hobby Search has a nice little pictorial of the kit (part 1, part 2) which unfortunately doesn't go into detail about the assembly...  Of course they also have their usual instruction manual scans if you want to see how the assembly works.

Oh man, I was so iffy on getting it but after looking at those pictures I can't help but want it. I'm definitely getting it, the RX-78 is still my favorite Gundam design out of all of them, in fact I think I own more RX-78 kits than any other Gunpla... well maybe Char's Zaku 2.

Oh definitely, after finding out that I essentially paid the same price w/shipping for 2 on-sale kits at HLJ as I would have for them at regular price at Hobbywave and even TIS I figured importing wasn't worth it any more.

Dang US dollar....

Hahahah! You know... if you order the 1/48 Gundam from R10, there's a chance you may get some EMS Swag with it. I found this in the bottom of the box I was about to throw out a few moments ago. Motorized EMS truck!

Is anyone here a fan of fully clear gundams? Alot of those coming out recently, and I'm just gonna say, I've never been too big a fan.

I bought the F91 with the clear parts and while I'm not a fan of clear model kits, I think having clear parts  as an option to show off the frame is pretty cool.

I have the clear parts for the Victory and frankly will probably never use them. I have the Hexa head/core fighter too that I didn't make. If I thought someone would be interested I'd get rid of them.

Having said that, a kit with all clear parts could be cool with a semi-transparent armor like a FSS design.
