Berserker Thunder
« on: March 19, 2006, 02:26:39 AM »
Hi, I am from Singapore and has been viewing this amazing forum for some time already. I am into Zoids, but not too sure whether it fits into the "Giant Robots" theme of this forum. Only started modelling/airbrushing one year ago, and below is my most ambitious project to date. Total length of the kit is approx 22 inches from tip to tail. All comments are welcomed! And perhaps, one day, I can reach the skill levels of the amazing modellers in this board

Berserker Thunder
Color Scheme:
Camouflage effect on the armour is achieved by airbrushing light brown, dark brown and black camo pattern on a green base and then misting with green again to blend everything together. Exposed mechanism are airbrushed with out-of-bottle metallic colors as well as custom metallic brown. Weapons and feet are drybrushed silver to accentuate the raised edges. Panel lining is applied to entire model.

Weathering:
Talcum powder was mixed with brown and applied on the feet to recreate mud. Tamiya battery-op router is used to create battle damage, which are then drybrushed with silver to simulate underlying metal showing through. Various shades of brown and black are applied in various logical areas with Q-tips to simulate rust.

Decals:
Water slides decals are used instead of stickers.

Above are the aproximate steps that go into creating this MT repaint. There are many more little steps here and there which i have obmitted. Entire photo album as well as some WIP pictures can be found HERE All comments, critiques, suggestions and questions are welcomed :)

Hey - welcome to the forums!  I too am a sucker for Zoids, and that's a really great paint job you did on that guy...

BTW, check out this thread:

Your pics were a little too large, so I changed them to links.

Very nice work. We model everything here so zoids are just as acceptable as tanks! Welcome!
Rust is beautiful.

Yo this is nice!  A camo mad thunder.  I like the paint job very much.

Did you have a lot of trouble filling out all the hollows in the kit?  I have a mad thunder too and at one point I did want to paint it, but it was too much work to fill all the parts.

Looks cool, want to see more!

Im a pretty impatient modeller. The paint job alone took me almost 2 months (with my job, gf etc). So, I did not do any filling at all. I guess, patience is something which i need to attain to bring my skills to the next level :)
