Thank you very much for the great comments!
FF the model is already glued to the base, but I'll implement your feedback for next model. I didn't think of it  :embarrased:

donc0023 thanks, I'll definetely go and weather the legs more, just next time I have an airbrushing session.

The base was cut from plasticard, and sprayed light gray. The base is a simple wood base from arts and crafts shop which was painted black.
The base was then painted in various light filters of gray, white and raw umber oil colors, with some black touches on the sides.

Now all that remains is to glue the model in place.

It was a very fun project, and I can't wait to start another mech in this series, and I already have the new noblesse oblige, which I got from

Will post the final pictures in the gallery forum, and thanks for watching the blog.

I'll add some dusting to the legs, but when I get to use the airbrush..

I plan to base the model on a simlpe base, and add a figure for scale and to make it look more interesting. Fortunately there are a number of figures in 1:72, and I picked one out of Eduard modern Czech airforce crew set. After building it I primed it gray:

Base colors were painted, using acrylics:

And the figure is finished after detail painting, shadows and higlights:

My wife has the credit for the color selection, I started with planning to do it green and white, but I grew sick of painting things green..

To get a clean look for the guns, I drybrushed them in gray tones, some 8 tones at all from dark gray to light gray. Then added some washing in black oil color. On the side shields there is a white "121" ID number used from a dry transfers set, but I think it doesn't show on the pictures.

The model was then pin washed with dark brown oil color (raw umber + black), I'm thinking of calling it done and move to the base and figure. Should I do anything more to it? will be very happy to hear your thoughts on the weathering. I wanted to show a well maintained but active mecha.

Also tried to take better pictures this time, I hope they are

Thanks for watching,

Thanks :)..
I looked on lots of mecha models from people here and other sites, I still have lots to learn on how to do this clean cool look, so I figure I'll go for a better known finish for me
I think of doind a lightly weathered finish. I'll be happy to get feedback as I go alone.

I couldn't resist and built the thing.
I still am trying to figrue out how to take reasonable pictures, as my hobby was moved out of my kid's room for good.
This is how it look like before some weathering..

The scheme is very interesting, I think the purple and green works very well.
Maybe it would be intersting to do one of these with lozenge?

The parts are painted, except those I forgot and had to do with a brush
Used tamiya's and gunze acrylic paints, and some masking tape masking :

The body from various angles:

And the weapons. I'm thinking of using the identical couple.

Thank you very much!
Hummingbird warhammer is too expensive for me too.
I found epic which is warhamemr 1:300 scale better in terms of costs, and actually a better game.
Still expensive but much less than warhammer 40k.

Thanks :).
There are so many parts in this kit, I'm now thinking of what colors to paint it. I don't want to paint it in red, currently I think of light and dark gray, and azure.

The feet:

The legs which got some more parts:

Shields to go with the knees

Antennae and some sort of wings (?)

hands and the joint of the body and legs (don't remember the words in English  :embarrased:)

Thanks for watching, soon it will be finished .

Thank you ery much :)..
It is I think the most complex kit I've been building to date, but I love every minute of it, and actually am thinking of getting a second one, the new kit released in August which I've preordered from hlj.

I think the most difficult part for me is to plan the painting of it, which will be done in subassemblies like I've seen in the other blogs around here.

So I started with the hands, and added another layer of thin plasticard to make some kind of added armor plates.

Lost of parts to make the hands from:

The elbow systems:

The legs are starting to make sense:

Most of the legs are completed in this picture:

I'm building this one OOB, but I can see that maybe next time I'll be brave enough to try and add something of my own..

I'm back with something that maybe will interest the forum (not military models at all :)).

I started working on a mech kit, of Rayleonard 03-AALIYAH from armored core series.
There are tons of parts in this, and it looks like a very complex model.
My plan is currently not to glue everything together, but to mark some subassmblies and glue them after painting, which I don't like to do, but in this case I don't see a better way..

I would appreciate your advice and opinions, I don't have too much experience with mechs :).
