Well there are some Construction/Industrial mechs from the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe but unfortunately most of them are just technical readouts from game manuals or the odd background art or two.

I guess they didn't figure that players would actually like to know what they looked like. WizKids that made the figure game for Mechwarrior made some Industrialmech figures that were converted to combat use(tacked on weapons and such, Forrestry Mech for example) which can be used as a base to go back to the original design but their website seems to no longer work

Channel-Wing type aircraft:

Here's are a couple questions for the aviation buffs/enthusiasts:

1. Will a Custer-Channel-Wing type be able to sustain inverted flight?
2. How "eccentric" can you aesthetically take the concept and still retain a look of realism at first glance? (like taking off all the fixed wings)

On the another note since the nazis at the office have decided to block websites with a Personal tag I haven't able to browse the forum from there so I went searching for other things instead and found this site full of weird plane designs and the known dimensions for them. I'm able to access the site from the Austin connection at work but I can't seem to open it from home :(

It's that this hasn't gotten a reply so far.

The question seems a bit unclear to me. Are you refering to the general/overall design aesthetic or the "spirit" of how a mech of a faction is supposed to look?

By observation, especially in AOZ designs, it seems to me that most people use paint to make it all come togeather. An angular part connected to a curvier one painted the same color tend to look "natural" as opposed to them being in different colors. Of course there are exceptions and it does not work everytime  but unless you want a part to stand out I think paint would be easiest.

Hi Guys,

Somethings been bugging me for a while. I read somewhere that flowing water from the northers and southern hemispheres flow towards the equator due to a planets spin. Also that some rivers flow underneath deserts until they're forced upwards by bedrock. So the question is do the Trocken seas have some sort of submerged cave networks linking them togeather from north and south? Are there submarines prowling the seas? If there are no links between the seas, does this mean that seas from north and south have "unique" creatures that evolved in those seas alone?

So what's the general tech base for the current phase of the build? I see Turbines listed in Mechanics as a propulsion system however there are no references to control/electronic  systems that are used in general. Are these 60's-ish vacuum tube systems, solid-state electronis, "modern" microprocessors or some future tech that survived the Secession? I'd just like to know as a point of reference.

Not to be annoying or anything but would Ekranoplans(WIG) fit into this world? It seems that the only setback for these things on Earth is the amount of power needed for take off otherwise the actual propulsion needed for cruising is less than a planes and is more efficient. The small ones(even the huge one) only use props for cruising once they're up to speed and on a low grav world this could be more feasable. I think someone had a model of a big one but I can't remember his name :(

On the planet:

I'm no geologist or anything but from what I've heard there are about main 2 things that can affect a planets gravity: Heavy metal content and speed of rotation. On an earth sized planet with the same rotational speed I think there would be less heavy metals on the planets composition and most of which would be in the core. This would make it hard to find deposits on the crust and could be a source of conflict for factions securing resources( and of course there's the water issue with it being a desert world ).

On the flora and fauna:

The 1/2 gravity would make it plausible for surface flora and fauna to use air bladders to help support their bulk. Also, " normal " sized organisms can grow bigger since they can now support more mass( like the giant anaconda which needs water to fully support it's weight ). At the same time plants will not need as much rigidity for the most part( less wood like structures ) to grow and support themselves.

The pics are really blurry and I think the legs are great! Especially the action pose pic. Reminds me of a Metal Gear :lol: I don't often see posability like that in a scratch build project
