Model In-Progress / Flight Recon Type (Fomerly Night Recon Kampfer)
« on: November 20, 2006, 06:18:18 AM »
I've had in intresting and scary idea. Pull the thruster pods from my 1/60 Big Scale Wing Zero. Change the pollycap for the shotgun bracket to the thruster pod. Do one pod in the open possition, the other closed. I was just looking at it and the pod fits perfectly.

But that seems like a small step from out right coping the Q and thats not at all what I want from the Kampfer. Using a style and stealing an idea isn't a line I really wana cross for the sake epic win that might come out of it.  :?

I need to sleep...

Edit: Well it looks cool

K is for Krazy Kustom Kampfer Kompetition / Random Kampfer Idea Thread
« on: November 20, 2006, 05:11:03 AM »
Been woking on mine for many hours this week end and I can't get it out of my brain to sleep... and I still haven't fingured how to even equip it with weapons. How bout the lauchers mounted together and replacing the forarm, the elbow connecting at where the little bracket holds them could look nice. Or maybe widen the forarm armor and mount the shotguns to replace the hand.

I kinda wana speak against a production model "Engineer Kampfer". The Kampfer is a FAST atack MS. In, out; Bing bang boom. But if it was damaged and rebuilt as an engineer it'd be believable (long conflict, supply shortage and what not)

So I found my way to Peck World and after I found my heart a few days later, I knew what I wanted to do. I'm not looking to do like what Peck did to his Kampfer but his Qubeley

The plan is to thin and smooth it out as much as I can. *discribes everthing he's going to do in great detail*

So here's what I have, 2 feet lined with Bondo. The top is a the done foot on the second, and the bottom is a tracing of the original. I'm going to put in a third toe, originaly I wanted to make it move but I didn't know the other two did, so oh well.

Edit: Oh, duh. Paint. What I'm thinking is blacks and dark metals for the internals and a slighly metal black for the armor with a dark pearled clear over it... Then again I'll have to practice with my new airbrush

Update: Here's the right leg. All the bondo (white) is from under the plastic. The outside concave sections will be filled and smoothed so it all flows. The forward ancle armor bit on the foot'll will be rounded at the top and kept squair at the bottom. I'm going to extend and round the knee cap and the upper thight will be filled in and rounded like the rest. Am I missing anything about the legs?

I use a light hand when piecing my gundams, and will break, at max, 1 or 2 per MG kit.

Might be the problem right there. The fact that you DO break parts regularly means you may not be using a light of a touch as you think.

What part of construction were you in when you broke the parts? Maybe you were just not lining up peaces right or forcing them a little too much.

Or you got a bad batch

pictures of the parts would be great

Painting/Priming / Mr. Sufacer and Primer Questions (post 'em here)
« on: November 15, 2006, 05:37:19 PM »
Other than Mr. Surfacer, Tamiya,  Krylon and the like, what other primers work for us?

I was at Home Depot (which I'm starting to hate) and I found a whole wall of primers, from pints to 5 gallon buckets and they're fairly cheap. I checked the back of a few cans but didn't see anything about plastics or thinning. Are any of them any good?

I don't think its the feet that, I think its the legs that look girly. The way it walks, it looks like its hitch hicking by showing some skin

The problem with doing the interior is you can't really see past the huge chair. Good luck if you do them though

I like where its going. Maybe bring in the chest a little and thin the back of the forarms and hands?

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Putty Questions
« on: September 19, 2006, 01:11:50 PM »
Had a tube of Squadron putty dry out on me, I heard it thins with acetone so I put the rest of the tube in a large Tamiya bottle with some nail polish remover. Being thinned down, its a LOT better than out of the tube. Smooth, easy to apply thin coats with out lots of waste. It sticks to the lid a little which happens to be great for getting it to your tools.

You need to check it every week or else it'll start to dry out and need to be mixed.

If you're gona use Squadron, its what I suggest. Right out of the tube the stuff kinda sucks

Model In-Progress / First real build: Nu Gundam
« on: August 16, 2006, 10:44:57 PM »
Well, back to work on it. My camera's dead which is really too bad cause its starting too look good.

Got 6 extra funnels from Gamerabaenre, so we're (meaning me) making a Nu V. Instead of the linked funnels, I'm modding and am pinning 2 funnels so the other 10 hang off the fins. Its like the Hi Nu but pointing back not down... Looks nice... stupid camera
Think I might do a few other things to the body, maybe make it closer to the Hi Nu.

Okay, here's my mods. Redframe arms, legs, head, feet, side skirts and crotch. Outframe chest, knees, shoulders, backpack, weapons, ankles, skirts, hands and v-fins

Anything I'm missing?
