Nice scheme, good clean colors. I like it, even though I am not a HUGE Zeta fan.

What brand of paint/method did you use?

Thank you for your assistance, but alas, those are 1/100 scale rifles. I am building the 1/144 HGUC RX-78-2. And even if I could find a 1/144, it would throw off the whole scheme of the classic Gundam, wouldn't you think? My whole plan is to make the AEUG STYLE Rifle/Launcher, but with the HGUC Gundam weapons.

And the Launcher AKO makes is for the AEUG Rifle, not the original 0079 Gundam/GM beam rifle. Maybe I didn't go into thorough detail in my initial post.

That's going to be one of those projects where you'll just have to perhaps print out the pics from the manual (dalong.net) and use them as a size reference for doing it yourself. Use metal or plastic rod and tubing, sheet styrene, etc... Looking at other scratchbuilds will help you get the basics.

I know the basics of scratch building, it is just how am I going to attach the Launcher and make the whole thing look symmetrical is what is bugging me. Of course the last resort in all this was if no other material could be found, I would have to just print the scans I found and just start sketching.

Thanks for your input Fichten.

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Beam Rifle w/ Grenade Launcher Material
« on: July 25, 2007, 11:44:08 AM »
After I wrap up construction on this SD WZC I am working on for my GF, I plan on doing a basic kit which would be a bit more challenging than the SD WZC (I am kind of doing a kit by kit re-entry into Gunpla). The kit decision came in the form of the HGUC RX-78-2. Great little kit, simple, but has some nice add ons. The only problem I have with it, is the weapons. They just seem so cheese-a-rific, so I thought I would do the AEUG Beam Rifle w/ Grenade Launcher attachment, but with the Rifle and Bazooka featured in the Rx-78-2 kit.

What I am asking for is something along the lines of In-Progs or even a Step-by-Step guide to making the AEUG Rifle/Launcher. I have looked around a lot of sites, and have searched the forums, but all I can find are completed photos. I have saved some, as well as the 2D computer line art that is in the MG Manuals for the MK II and RX-78-2.

Thanks for your help on the matter.

Model In-Progress / Re: 1/100 HG Blaze Zaku

Well....

I like the "Darth Zaku" or #3 scheme, minus your choice for Dark Blue. Personally, I think if you lightened the Dark Grey just a TAD bit, and make the blue some kind of Pale Blue or "Character Blue" to offset the darkness a bit. And Orange for the chest with the DZ scheme is just too much of a color contrast IMO.

Thats just my personal opinion. I think however that the DZ scheme in camo looks better than plain if you wish to stick to all dark colors.

Hope that helps you out.

So, currently I am stuck with an extremely flimsy and unstable "Computer Desk" that my father bought me some years ago. It is just falling apart. The desk cannot handle any movement, and the chair is just as bad (I am like 6' 2" and 230 lbs, I need some stability), so I am obviously in need of a new desk.

Simple you say? Well, the only area I can put that bad boy is in a recess in my wall where the window is, which is about 3-4 feet wide. Are there any desks available that are of a good quality that fit in that little a space? If not, Does anyone have any tips for making something myself?

This may be a bit pre mature of me to ask, but some of you have some fancy stuff going on desk wise as I have seen, so I figured it may not hurt to ask  :embarrased: .

Thanks for your help.

Well the only thing the chest is "missing" is a tiny bit of gray on the 3 bolts that are higher than the rest of the cockpit area. Otherwise I don't think I loft a piece or something. Well I lost the beam saber ages ago but that's it lol. And about your advice you gave me on light color over a darker one can you specify where on my kit I should have done that or if it was a general advice. Because honestly I don't really link it to the kit. But that's a good advice though. Willl definitively keep it in mind for the the one am working on.

The torso, where you painted the yellow on what I guess is the vents (I was never to familiar with the GPO2a design, maybe because I don't like it all that much).

My first Gundam kit ever wasn't nearly that good. It seems like the chest is missing a piece though.

And a general rule of color is, if you want to apply a light color over a dark one, a white undercoat in that area with help immensely.
