Model Gallery / Another one of those "occasional anime girl kits"
« on: October 06, 2005, 11:18:19 PM »
Ok, I don't think I did too bad a job for my second anime figurine.  Learned alot from the Saber kit.  And tried some new techniques that seemed to work for the better.  I haven't started post shading with pastels yet, since I'm still practicing fine detailing with my new airbrush.  But I'll get some comments and critism before I do anything more to her.  I think she's done.  But you know me, if I get enough suggestions, I'll throw her back on the bench.  Debating on if I should flat coat the hair or not.  I've seen many anime kits with sorta shiny hair....  Here's the completed page: Asuka Langley Completed Page
And here are some sample thumbnails:

Ok, the GM's are shelved... time for the fresh blood.  New kit came in from hobbyfan on saturday and since then, she's been bathing in a nice purple goo of industrial strength cleaner.  Tonight I got to scrub her down and drill little holes in her and stick metal rods all over her....

This picture should fit within the posting guidlines...

I feel the dio project starting to burn me the heck out...  Too much scratching, bashing, and mods.  I don't think I can finish the dio's base intime for Orangecon so I'm not going to try.  I have another anime figurine that came in on Saturday that is currently soaking in industrial purple goo.  I want to touch her.. er... build her.  Anyhow, since the PGM is pretty much done, and I just don't feel like weathering it right now.  I took a bunch of pictures and put up a finished page for it.  Some of the lines and such are not so clean.  It's a byproduct of my learning as I worked through this.  I'm fairly happy with my first real bash/scratch/mod project.  Here's the completed page: PGM-79SPCII Powered GM Sniper Custom II  And here are a few sample pictures:

More mistake revealing images are on the completed page.  Comments and critiques welcomed!

Hey guys, I've effectively popped my figure modeling cherry.  Here's the results:
ere's the progress page: Saber Progress And here is the completed page: Saber Completed
Here are a couple of sample pictures:

The face took the longest.  The face in the progress pictures is the first of four attempts.  Which took a little over a week.  But I finally gave in with the last face.  Not completely happy with it, but I needed to get this girl finished so I can get back to the GM's I was building before she got here.  Women seem to always get in the way of gunpla eh?  Comments and critiques always welcomed!

Model In-Progress / Branching out to anime Figures...
« on: August 31, 2005, 09:08:33 AM »
Ok, this will be my second figure.  The first figure I built was a Trunks kit from Dragon Ball Z about 10 years ago that was hand painted using Humbrol Enamels.  Time to venture into that realm again I guess.  Well, I was looking at this kit for a while, something about the character and such just drew me to get it.  After debating for a couple of weeks,  I bit the bullet and grabbed it from hobbyfan.  Lucky me, it was the last one.  Anyhow, I bathed her and pinned her... hmm.. sounds almost dirty...
Here's a sample picture with a 1/100 RGM-79[G] standing in front of her for a size comparison:

There are more pictures in the progress page here: <<Saber progress from Fate/Stay Night>>

46  They now carry the line.  I don't know of any other US source for the stuff.  They have plenty of it.  I dropped by their store today and noticed they were running at bout 85-90% of stock.  Their next shipment is sometime in october.  They've been getting a decent amount of orders for the stuff.  I absolutly love this lung killing paint.

Also, if you are interested in tamyia enamels, email them.

Hey guys, I just started another project this weekend:

This is the most extensive use of putty, scratch building, and kit bashing I have ever done.  At least it should keep me busy for a while.  Tips, suggestions, comments and such welcomed!

Ok, I made a few changes along the way. Thanks to P-Trax for suggesting the mirror acrylic stuff.  I went with the mirrored acrylic base instead of the "Color shifting" painted base.  Here's a few thumbnails:

I also put the booster shield into play which I didn't think I was going to even build.  But the internal wire frame helps out to hold the shield without wavering.  Comments and such welcomed!

I'm back onto another project.  I took a nice little 2 week or so break from anything plastic (not too bad, guess that cursed SV 51 didn't burn me out completely)  I was a bit bored last night while watchcing tv so I decided to snap the sucker together and test fit it to get a feel for what I want to do.  I sorta have an idea on how I want to present it now and a few ideas on mods, but for now here's the Hazel from Bawoo's conversion kit.

Here are some sample pictures (sorry they're on the poor side, it was late and I just wanted some quick pictures):

I finally finished this damn thing.  I'm ok satisfied with it being that I haven't built a plane in such a long time.  But I just wanted to finish it at this point.  There was no juice left, but I just had to finish it.  I should do better on my next plane (when I get over my phobia of them)  But it was a nice little break from the Gundam world I immerse myself into.  Here are some sample pictures:

More pictures on the completed page.  <<Click Here>>
And the progress page.  <<Progress Page>>
Side note: while taking pictures, one of the lights I used came crashing down and broke some of the blast shield parts and stuts.  A little glue and they're now a bit crooked and such, oh well   :(   Enjoy the pictures.

I started a new project, and I actually started working on this a while ago, but never got anywhere with it and kept putting it off to work on more Gundam stuff.  Well, it's also partly because it's fairlyuncharted territory for me even though I've build planes before (last hasegawa kit was about 15 or so years ago)  So I'm a bit rusty and timid.  But here goes anyways; it's just the cockpit parts and a few other pieces painted, and the untoched base :

This little project should have me tied up for a little while.  Hopefully it turns out half way decent.  At the very least it's a break from all the Gundam related stuff I've been building of late.  For the progress page: <<Click Here>>

Model Gallery / Gundam G3 One Year War ver.
« on: May 03, 2005, 10:15:13 PM »
Hey all,

I sorta rediscovered this site yesterday.  I've kinda been out of the model building scene since the start of the year.  I've been posting on and off on CoM, but I've not been really active anywhere else.  With my recent job change, I had a week off so I finished the Gundam RX 78-2 One Year War version with the G-3  esq paint scheme.  Some of you may have already seen it from one of the many mb's I spam when I actually complete something.  But for those who haven't: <<Click here>>  I've gotten a little inspiration to build again, so hopefully that sticks so I can complete a few more things during summer.
