Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Problem with Sand the nubs
« on: January 20, 2008, 11:22:58 PM »
I'm new at posting here,

I'm currently building my MG Destiny Gundam and some of the nubs are in the way of the details on the kit. I tried to sand the nubs down without sanding away on the details. I sand, sand, sand and I couldn't remove the rest of the nubs unless I sand away the the detail. On top of that, there's this detail line (or scribe trim line) on the outside of the part so when you connect the wrist side it will create a panel line between the two parts. THAT IS WHERE THE NUBS ARE! So I got a double wammy here. Not only that I have to fear of sanding down the detail but also the panel line as well. hears the pic:

Sorry about the picture, but the nubs are between the wrist and lower arm connection. Should I use putty on it to remove the panel line? Someone please help me on this problem.

Sometimes it helps to paint that area first with an airbrush then mask with blu-tack. Other times a long thin brush will work. I'd avoid the markers... they mostly suck.

What company makes the best blu-tack, and what store can I get them?

Yeah, those vents, grills, ears or whatever you called it. The freedom has it also the Hi Nu Gundam has it. I got a .25 Technical pen but I want it in light or dark gray color. I just want it to look perfect no matter what.

Painting/Priming / Gundam Head Vents

Hi guys, first ever post in this thread. So far I've built only three gundams in my life and I'm starting to enjoy it a lot. Here's my MG Strike Gundam I.W.S.P (pardon for my bad pictures):

One of my big headaches about gundams is painting the side head Vents (like the Freedom Gundam that I'm about to work on) and I like to ask you experts how do you guys be able to reach those areas?
