Model Talk / Re: 1/60 PG Display Stands?
« on: July 29, 2007, 12:28:10 PM »
Thanks for the clarrification guys.

I've been going through Dalong.net page, page by page for 3 days now and I could see anything about a stand onlther than that one striker model. I figured that I must have been missing something.

Obviously that was time well spent.  :meh:

Actually, ONLY the Skygrasper + Aile Strike model comes with the stand. PG Strike Gundam does not come with one. Strike Rouge, however, since its comes with both the Strike Rouge and the Skygrasper, it also comes with the stand.

If you go to the PG Skygrasper page --> Information --> Parts. Sprue WD and WF are the stand pieces.

[edit] er... sry for the necro post... >.<[/edit]

Hm. fairly positive we don't have any HobbyTown or Hobby Lobby in Montreal. Though it means that I should be able to find it in local hobby stores or crafts stores.

Thanks for the info :D

Painting/Priming / Airbrush, Airbrushing, and Compressor Questions

If its new and all you've been doing when disassembling is taking out the visible parts then the Packing screw is in there. I always thought the the packing needle was never there but its in there. Just very deep inside the airbrush body

Come to think of it, How do you remove the Needle packing screw on Iwata models?
On the Revolution CR models, I can sorta make out 2 indentations, looks like  (¦), on the needle packing that would fit a flat head screw driver. I've never actually tried using one because its new and I dont have any reason to remove it. I'm a little scared of removing it =(

I tried googling with term like "Iwata HP-C diagnosis" "help...paint cup...squirt...leak" didn't seem to get any good result. Since there are some iwata Hp-C users in here so it's probably the best way to get to to the bottom of this problem.
I need to know if this is a genuine airbrush or not so i can return it, that's why I've to bumped the post.

Googling through, I found some suggestion on another forum that seems to be similar to your problem. Though the airbrush in question is a Iwata HP-CH. Wasnt sure if yours was a Hi-line or an eclipse.

But you may want to look through the thread.

Good luck

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Cutting metal ube?

You can always find a small pipe cutter that they use for plumbing.

I think this is it or close to it

You can always go to a hardware store with the tubing in question and ask the staff there.

Arcylics and enamels tend to not play together at all.

Meaning having a bottom coat of enamel then putting a top coat of acrylic or vice versa is bad?

In my direct experience with hand painting? Yes. Very much so. Even with a clear coat--or multiple clear coats (of any kind) between them. The only exception would possibly be dry-brushing acrylics over enamels. That can work if you're careful.

Again, that's just my direct experience with hand-brushing.

Would the same apply to airbrushing ? (sorry forgot to mention airbrushing, but at least I know for hand brushing :) )

Side question: Where can one find pipettes locally (in the general location, i.e hardware stores, art stores...etc o.O )
I was thinking of just using syringes (gf's dad works at the hospital) that way I dont lose much paint (vaccum effect in the syringe along with rubber thingy) or thats just over-kill o.o XD

Thanks for the quick reply btw :)

Anyone have any experiences with the Iwata Revolution CR ? Double action, gravity fed with a 1/3 oz paint cup.

I've been looking on this model for a while but never got to buying it (got busy and school) but now that I got more time.

I would also need a compressor which I'm debating between the smartJet and SprintJet. But I'm wondering does auto on and off on the SmartJet matter that much ?
If not I think I might just get the sprintJet and get a surge protector with a switch as GunDom mentioned wayy back.

Thanks in advance

I have the exact setup you're looking at.  Revolution CR and Sprint Jet.  Both are excellent.  No problems so far in the 4 months since I got them.

I just bought a Sprint jet, had bought the Revo CR a few weeks back. Found a store in Montreal with the same price as DixieArt (same US price but converted to CAD   )

Tried it out on my Tallgeese III for now and as far as I can tell, it feels soo much different then a paintbrush. To quote Mcdonalds (>.<) "I'm Loving it" :D

Need a lil practice though :)
