Model Gallery / MG-GP03S & 1/35 Ishtar [OLD][Lots of images]

I moved a few months ago and I just remembered I have everything still packed in boxes, I have a working camera again and the light was nice this morning. I've also never actually posted anything I FINISHED

I'll start with few quick shots of an 1/35 Ishtar from mid summer '06. Hand paint, panel lines, maybe a little too much weathering but it looks nice.





So here's my MG-GP03S I finished around the start of the year. It's fully airbrushed (my first) with a semi-gloss clear coat. It's far from perfect, but I tried a lot of things on it. I tryed few brass pegs for detail. Any way it needed a lot more finish work as well as a bit more difference between the armor/inner frame colors, there's also some destroyed pain from the fit around the shoulders. I couldn't get all the dust off too...

Okay, I started another build today (yeah, that would make 5 (no I haven't finished anything in 6 months)). FF linked to a Hobby Japan issue in the Hover tank build. original

Base kit is a 1/35 Tamiya Challenger 2, but I think I want a Merkava turret.
I gota quick MSPaint, cause I got a problem. I think its kinda fairly clear what I'm going for. The red arrow is the trouble, I want to put a pivot there and I don't have a damn clue how. Ideas?

So I found my way to Peck World and after I found my heart a few days later, I knew what I wanted to do. I'm not looking to do like what Peck did to his Kampfer but his Qubeley

The plan is to thin and smooth it out as much as I can. *discribes everthing he's going to do in great detail* :roll:

So here's what I have, 2 feet lined with Bondo. The top is a the done foot on the second, and the bottom is a tracing of the original. I'm going to put in a third toe, originaly I wanted to make it move but I didn't know the other two did, so oh well.


Edit: Oh, duh. Paint. What I'm thinking is blacks and dark metals for the internals and a slighly metal black for the armor with a dark pearled clear over it... Then again I'll have to practice with my new airbrush

Update: Here's the right leg. All the bondo (white) is from under the plastic. The outside concave sections will be filled and smoothed so it all flows. The forward ancle armor bit on the foot'll will be rounded at the top and kept squair at the bottom. I'm going to extend and round the knee cap and the upper thight will be filled in and rounded like the rest. Am I missing anything about the legs?

I've tryed a few things, but I'm sure I haven't found the best way to apply putty. So, how do our PROs do it?

Model In-Progress / Astray: Red Guard

Picked up a HG Red Frame (first HG and 144) this weekend and it needs some work to look cool. The plan is to widen the arms and legs, mod the feet (lots of drying fill work) , move the beam sabers (done), mod the head (drying), add neck movement (needs filling), do something about those ugly shoulders, bigger backpack (thrusters maybe) and anything else I can think of. Might paint the white parts silver and um... otherwise standard colors... or not...

Alright, so I've cut and glued the feet. Just need filling and lots of sanding.


(bad pic, I know) Little mod on the rifle, moved the sabers onto the shield (might sand them down a little, but they don't get in the way. Head is drying so before I can sand and there's the neck mod.



Still got other stuff on the table, PG Strike weapons (had to fill a HUGE gap... I feel like such a dope!), then back to the Nu (much thanks to Gamerabaenre for the extra funnels)

I got superglue, I got talc. Whats the strongest mix consistancy wise, better thick like putty or just less than runny? Also, using it filling putty, any tips for that?

Model In-Progress / First real build: Nu Gundam

Starting my first REAL build. Full prebuild, filling, sanding, full paint, drybrushing, weathering... blah blah blah. Sure its just a Nu and I think its damn ugly, but no loss if I fail, right? (pics once I paint the frame)

One minor paint question, Tamiya gun metal and dark gray (50/50) for a dark half metal finish?
