Model Gallery / MS-06R-1N Zaku II Cerebus Psycommu Testbed for Newtype
« on: November 07, 2009, 08:47:18 PM »
Zeonic Corporation's test for wired particle-gun bits along with an enhanced reactor (the same model used in the YMS-14 Gelgoog prototype) to allow full use of particle beam weapons. Acceleration over the standard MS-06R-1A model was said to be "significant". Along with being a testbed for wired remote weapons, this Zaku also has the capability to use a 400mm Mega Particle Beam Bazooka, with targeting upgrades (and additional triangulation from sensors placed on the remote bits) to let it engage strategic targets from extreme range. It is known to have survived the One Year War, and has been seen in-use by a former Zeon ace, who has further modified it with a triple-triple 35mm gatling and larger heat-hawk, Identical to those used by several MS-07 Gouf variants.

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / oops. zakuII 2.0 hand help
« on: August 30, 2009, 12:39:06 AM »
I don't know whether the silver paint made it brittle, or if I just dumbassed it, but I broke off all three of the tabs that go between the fingers in to the assembled hand. Attempts to repair this have not been very successful as its a rather high-stress area and the tolerances are close.

I could try and repair using wire, would need to cut channels in the part and all, but this would be the most durable solution. Also likely to be rather ugly.

of course if someone is doing something silly like swapping out the left hand of a ZakuII for a Gouf's gun-hand, a replacement part wouldn't be missed. For that matter, does the gouf use the same runner and maybe have a normal left hand in addition to its gun-hand? If this is the case I can get a replacement from a gouf box owned by the commissioner here no problem.

If it comes down to it I can probably get a replacement from gundamstoreandmore, but the timeframe on that is rather uncertain.

commission work for a friend, starting with the 2.0 ZakuII R1A. He describes it as a post-OYW testbed for a newtype ace pilot. Some features of this build will be a blue/black splinter camo and quite a few mods. Despite this, it's a easy build compared to the Sinanju.

Planned mods: Knuckle spikes, shield studs, mega-beam bazooka, machinepistols for close quarters, gouf heat-hawk.

Possible mods: Psycommu remote cannon bits x2, extra reactionmass/fuel cylinders, horns!

Inner frame is done! It will get primed and painted quick, some specific details picked out (Unlike the Sinanju, I'm not worrying terribly about anything that won't be visible once it's fully assembled) and then work on the armor, where the compound curved bits will get a cast texture, then paint and some custom decals. woo!

Done, after 6 months!

Model In-Progress / Vic Viper
« on: July 15, 2009, 05:01:50 PM »
My next project is decided.

Gradius II version of the Vic Viper, which was half off from HLJ the other week.

Attractive box, and a gorgeous manual.

they go through a lot of technical details too, which is nice.

5 white sprues, 1 dark gray, 1 clear, and a sheet of thick, shiny, totally useless stickers.

The plan is to ignore the supplied flight base, and sculpt a Moai for it to be buzzing over, and in addition have the option bits flying in formation, perhaps even glowing.

This one should be fun. ^.^

I ended up with an extra cause I figured on short supply. Anyway, I'll let you folks here have first crack at it for my cost, $40 shipped anywhere. As pictured except it's been unwrapped to verify contents.

Model In-Progress / MG Sinanju Type Ka

Hi, just got here, and I guess the Sinanju is my first "serious" MG, even though I've got about 16 unpainted (and one rattlecan'd Sazabi) MG's guarding my closet.  Anyway, I'm about 50 hours into the Sinanju project now. Amazing the free time being laid off will get you.

See my progress so far here!

Right now I'm debating just how I'm gonna get the main color, whether I should use clear red or plain Guards red. Suggestions?

I was totally inspired yesterday when I discovered G-System-Shop's Amazing(ly expensive) 1/72 Sinanju! Right now I'm wondering if I should fill in the handles on the beam axes, cause that looks mighty fine. Ordered a bunch of Fulcy's detail parts too, cause those thrusters just look gooood. We'll see if I can reproduce that yellow-orange gradient on the insides of the bells!

More progress soon!
