Capitalism Corner* / 25% Model Kit Sale
« on: April 26, 2008, 07:24:45 AM »
Anime Discount DVD is having a 25% Model Discount Sale. What does that mean to us? Slight cheaper prices from US vendors and lower shipping cost if ordering in the US. So if you are still looking for that PG Strike Rouge and Skygrasper combo here you go. Now, I have bought items, not models, from Anime Discount DVD before my only gripe was shipping seemed a little slow.

Model In-Progress / Project: Destiny Astray
« on: June 30, 2006, 05:22:32 AM »
I’ve been working in this project, on and off, for little over a year now. It’s my first scratch built project and I want to be sure that I get it some what right. :P The model I’m using is the MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame.

I changed the cockpit area with some styrene sheet and magic sculpt to resemble the Destiny Gundam a bit more. Then I added some more styrene and magic sculpt to create an area for some vents.

I proceeded to remove the vents from the chest, puttied, and rolled a machine screw over the putty to create lines for internal vents. After the putty dried I filed the lines to even them up a bit.

Next, I’m worked on the head. I know I wanted something a little different from the regular Astray head. There was some thing I liked about it (the pointy shape going to the V fin) and there were some things I did not like about it (the magic sculpt fin itself, the back of the head, and the existing vents). So I played around with some styrene block and came up with this.

After about a month or so I really wasn’t feeling the look so I got out the trusty MS and puttied away with a basic idea. And here’s what I came up with.

I still need to add a new V fin, secure the beam cannon and add a few more details.

Finishes, Decals, and Weathering / White ink?
« on: January 26, 2005, 10:44:18 AM »
I read the tutorial about making custom decals and found the website that sell paper for making waterslides for my inkjet printer. One question though, how does one accomplish making white lettered decals without the use of white ink? :?
It seems the only way I can make decals with white lettering, is through the use of an Alps printer, is this true? I own an hp and ran a search through Yahoo, to come up with nothing.  :(
I was wondering if the local Kinko’s would have a printer that prints out white ink and if I could print out the decals there, has anyone tried this? Anyway thanks for the help.
