Model In-Progress / Hookin'
« on: June 01, 2005, 08:17:29 PM »
Working on a Chinook for a group build on another board... here is some preliminary work...proof I'm doing something!  If the weather cooperates, I'll be shooting the interior colors tomorrow...let's hope the rain holds!

I'm actually going to try a new technique...I'm going to do some pre-shading on the exterior color...we'll see how it works out...I may be bending some of your "ears" for some help later on.

Model Talk / Falcon

Well, I hope this is new news...I hate being the last to know...it won't be out until March 2006, but geez...at 1/72 scale it is going to be a monster of a kit.  I'll be first in line...who cares if it is $200.

See here:  http://www.hlj.com/product/FNMX-01

EDIT:  Check the link again...pics have been added and now the release date and price has been removed...Hmmmm... :?  By the way, I read that the actual scale of the Ertl kit was around 1/85...so that means that the FM kit will be larger than the Ertl...I just can't imagine that!  How will we live without this kit!!!!  Aaaaaaaaaa...I can't waaaaaiiiiiittt!!   Sorry.

This question is not about thier use!  There are tons of web pages on that...just this simple question for you...are the MiG (and other) pigments any different from chalks?

Many thanks,

Model In-Progress / Blue Angel Project
« on: March 25, 2005, 09:42:33 AM »
Well, I finally got off my duff and got going on my Blue Angel Project.  I'm currently working on a 1/72 B/A Hornet...that is now primed and ready for some putty and and getting ready to prime the landing gear/stuffs.  I wish I had inspected that kit closer before I opened it up...it had some seriously warped parts, but, too late now.  It isn't that bad.  I'll post some pics in a day or two...

Also, I'm doing a complimentary Zeta C+  in blue angel colors with some custom graphics from our own Foo....they look awesome, and I'll post some pics of those when they are ready as well.  Should be fun, I've worked on a Photoshop scheme, but I'm a little reluctant to post it, because I stink at PShop... ...we'll see.

Painting/Priming / Mr. Surfacer Help
« on: February 23, 2005, 10:52:23 AM »
Hey all, I hear some of you talking about Mr. Surfacer, and I have a decent understanding of what it is.  Could you tell us about the upkeep of the stuff, surface prep needed, should it be shaken or stirred  ...I think you guys understand.  Oh, and I got "500"...I hear you guys using that, but there is like a "1000" and a "1200" I think as well.

I bought a couple of bottles, and I just want to know what to watch out for as I begin using it.  I got the bottle/brush version, cause I want it mainly for seam work, plus I build small scale stuff...ok, well not always (that hugh A-10 I got for example) but most of the time.

Many thanks,
:taz:

« on: January 22, 2005, 06:22:13 AM »
I got to looking around the pages at Testor's Model Master site...and found this link. It links to a bunch of videos, and I found them very useful and insipiring. You need to click on the Workshop area, then you'll see the videos. It has some nice galleries and articles too.

Model Help* (Check Stickies and Search First) / Another source...
« on: December 22, 2004, 11:03:54 AM »
Does anyone know of an online source for Gundam kits AND military kits?  I know all the good Gundam shops, but none of them have military stuff.

Many thanks for any help...
