Model Gallery / 1/6 Lynn Minmay
« on: June 13, 2007, 09:31:08 PM »
Here's the Lynn Minmay I just finished.  Hope you guys don't mind a non-mecha kit... :embarrased: It's actually my 1st garage kit and I learned a lot from building it.  If you're interested, the WIP is posted on hobbyfanatics.  Constructive criticism encouraged. ;)

Good start, not really digging the scheme tho....if you're still looking for that MG, I just got mine recently at  They have it now for $32.99.

Nice kits!  I especially like the weathering on the Nutrocker.  Welcome to the forum.....can't wait to see more kits from you.

Looks pretty good.  The V-fins can use some sharpening tho  ;)

wow, I like the cleaniness of the kit, especially the finish on the black parts

regarding future, I'm thinking also that the kit is dusty.  It shouldn't be bumpy at all.  Make sure the kit is free of dust and spray in light coats, giving time in between to dry or dry with your AB.  You won't immediately see the glossy finish when you first spray it on, but after successive coats, you'll start to see it.  Take your time and have patience ;)

I actually liked the orangy color of the highlights in the first pictures better than the actual yellow color  :P  Painting on the sprue is just more trouble than benefits.  It's not a common practice here  :-)  As for the seam, you can prime your kit prior to painting it.  That should fix your problem.  What cement are you using, btw?

Thx for comments. In real life the yellow stripes don't look so thick. It's really tiny as you can see the model in my 3 years old son.
What I meant by "thick" is the amount of paint that you used, or the height from the painted surface, not the width of the stripe  :P

the yellow edges do look a little bit thick....either way, the kit looks great

This kit looks awfully like the gradius kit HF is selling, I wonder if it's just a modified version of this one....

the kit is coming along well, one thing that's bothering me though is the digital camo is kinda too checker-boardish, might look better if it was my dynamic like mtomczek's GP01.

looks great so far!  Although the light blue parts are a little too bright for me....and sharpen those V-fins!  :D

Ooooo!  Nice weathering on the kit!  Very convincing.  The LEDs are a cool addition.

Use search on this forum for places to buy Pearl-Ex.  I'm sure I've posted it somewhere in the help section.  They're basically powder pigments that can be used dry or mixed with a medium like FFA (what I used on this Quebeley).  Haven't heard anything about them harming the AB.  Although I had to spray at high PSI (25~30) for it to flow smoothly (sometimes the AB would jam and I have to pull the trigger back all the way to unclog it).  Maybe because I didn't thin the FFA + Pearl-EX mixture.  I had to apply many coats to get the high gloss finish on this kit.

I'm trying to keep it clean, focusing on the finish of the paint, kinda like Peck's Quebeleys  :embarrased:  That's why I chose not to add any decals  ^_^
