Painting/Priming / Re: Alclad and Gloss Black
« on: September 08, 2008, 09:03:59 PM »
can you use a color other than black for the base coat? i saw the prismatic line of alclad paint i was wondering if it was possible to use a gloss white.

I'd like to know how many coats of FFA would I need to airbrush on a model that will be polished using the tamiya/gunze sangyo polishing compound? i will be thinning the FFA with tamiya thinner. thank you for any help with this question.

Did you use fishing line and white glue for the drool? very beautiful work. I can't stop looking at the way you painted the guts. Even the veins look realistic. Just asking, but do you plan on painting any mecha in the near future? Awesome job man!

I know that this might not mean much, especially when I haven't posted any work myself, but if you feel the work on this PG Strike is getting boring or daunting back off. Leave it alone for while and do something else. While you are doing that something else, the inspiration/motivation will build up and you'll feel fresh and will want to finish it. I sure hope no one will hate me for saying this since I too would like to see this PG Strike finished. Take care and thanks for giving me something to always look forward too when I visit FF's site. Believe me, you are no noob.

Thank you FF. I know this is kinda cheesy, but I'm building this as a holder for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I'm hoping for the surprised look when she opens it and it's an MG ball holding the ring. Thank you for helping me out. I lost the manual while looking at different styles of wedding bands and somehow it got jumble up with all the brochures and work documents. Thanks again.

I lost the build manual at work for my RG-79 mobile pod ball kit. Can anyone help me out with this? A PDF maybe?

That's funny that you mentioned the heat. When i was mixing the two parts i didn't feel any, but after about two minutes it felt like i was holding a really hot cup of coffee. I was afraid the cup might melt or worse catch on fire. Thanks for the link. I was doing the casting in my bathroom(probably not the best place to do it). I live in California near San Francisco and the temp. is on the warm side. I'll try the chilling of the parts and then mix it. Although, I will look at the link you sent me and buy some resin that is of better quality.

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of resin casting a FSS Bang doll head. The mold is done which looks pretty good to me. I'm having problems pouring and mixing the resin (BTW- I have the Micro-Mark mold kit.) I'm following the directions on how to mix the resin by pouring equal amounts using the cups provided in the kit. My problem is when I pour the two parts together and mix them, it seems like it cures quickly. I'm also running into the problem of the resin thickening while I'm pouring into the mold. It doesn't fill the entire cavity, rather it sticks to one side and then just flows out of one of the drain tubes. Is there anything I can add to the resing mixture to make the working time longer and keep the resin as liquid as possible?

That's really nice. I actually like the bike stripped down with no ferrings or body panels. Good job man!

That's squeaky clean. Do the Defensor and the Ver.2 fit together or do mods have to be done to make them fit? Man...everyone on the board is so good I'm being left in the dust. :(

What is the red stuff on the body of the model? Is it putty? Looks like it's transparent.

Model Help* (Check Stickies and Search First) / Sorry FF
« on: December 06, 2005, 06:49:23 PM »
Sorry about my post FF, I wasn't thinking about the placement of.

What would be the better way to make a mold for a model?

A) Taking the model off the tree, building the majority of it and making a mold of the pieces?

B) Making a mold of the pieces still attached to the tree?

This is for a KAUZ I just won on Ebay and I would like to have three of these guys flying around in a dio. Thank you for any advice or tips you extend to me.

Model Talk / Are G-system models kits legit or are they knock-offs?
« on: November 07, 2005, 03:51:40 PM »

I just wanted to know if G-system resin kits are legitamate or are they knock-offs of Bandai and the Five Star Story line? I was reading on that the japanese market views them as being so. Does anyone have any thoughts or views on this?
