Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Re: Thrusters question
« on: May 02, 2008, 08:09:05 AM »
Thanks for your help!  I went ahead and bought some G Thrusters.  If I am looking for these parts on other sites, what dimensions should I be looking for?  Should I use small, medium, or large, or will they all work on master grade kits?

I hope these aren't stupid questions.

The color scheme works really well with the Wing Ka.  I love how the angles and panels of Master Grade kits lend themselves to the use of different color combinations, and you utilized these characteristics nicely. Like fichtenfoo said, the color scheme is at first a little jarring (to me because of the dark colors; I'm just used to seeing Ka.'s kits in bright whites and primary colors), but the Strike Noir theme was a good call.

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Thrusters question

What size thrusters would I need for say, a 1/100 MG Mk.II AEUG?

Any other suggestions as far as option parts go for beginner-level modifications for Master Grade kits?

Painting/Priming / painting internals on MGs
« on: April 08, 2008, 08:59:11 PM »
What's the best way to do this?  Am I just supposed to use a really small brush? What kinds of paints and paint-to-thinner ratio?

I read the other topics about painting small details and the figures that come with MG's, and think I've got the gist of it, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks for your help.

Painting/Priming / Badger 350 is clogging!
« on: February 15, 2008, 05:41:35 PM »
I just started airbrushing.  I have a Badger 350 Standard and am using Tamiya acrylics.  The airbrush is a single action and I don't have a compressor yet so I'm using propellant. It seems like it clogs up some, so I have a couple of questions:

-What ratio of thinner to paint should I be using?

-Any tips on properly cleaning my airbrush?

Assembly/Scratchbuilding / Instead of painting...
« on: February 15, 2008, 05:34:24 PM »
What if I were to skip painting altogether?

Say I was building a Master Grade kit and wanted to try this in lieu of painting:

1. Sand all the parts and spray a clear coat of enamel over them.
2. Do the panel lines using a watered down acrylic.

I figure if I spray an enamel clear coat over the entire model, it will induce the capillary action when I use an acrylic wash for the panel lines.

If I sand and polish the parts well enough initially, who will know the difference?

Just something I've been contemplating.  Please give me your thoughts.
