was also thinking of routing out those machine guns and replacing them with tubing...

This would be a big improvement. Such a shame to cover that slick engine.

I know you like to dress up your paint scheme images and I remembered this...

Looks interesting, nice start. What plans do you have for modifying the legs?

GEEZAS. those are some tiny tubes. Thanks for the tip about the hypo needles. As for the smaller guns what about smaller hypodermic syringe needles. I have a box of them somewhere from my dad's old diabeetus supplies.

I love seeing some of these old EX kits being built. The forum needs more space ship builds.

at first I was like: , but then I was like: ^_^

Lavender does work well and the white instead of gold is perfect for toning down the purple.

Hm, I hadn't even thought of 1/87 stuff :embarrased: With the trains, the scale difference is just a little too noticeable, but after some careful tearing apart the garage, I did find some 1/87 diecast tanks and trucks and things I might be able to use...

Well it is the future so maybe trains are bigger & stronger, especially if they are hauling mobile suit parts. With some mods it could work.
The paint is looking really good too.  :D

Painting/Priming / Re: Mr. Sufacer and Primer Questions (post 'em here)

I would like to ask which primer in the cans will be the best for priming parts:

Well there are lots of great primers out there. I'd say it depends on your location (US or elsewhere) and application.

Mr Surfacer in the can is very good as is Tamiya surface primer. The cans are small and good for maybe 4 to 7 small kits depending on how much you spray. Automotive primers like Duplicolor (in the US) have very good, very inexpensive primers that last much longer.

I was considering a diorama, but I couldn't find any of the vehicles I'd hoped to include in 1/100, so I've put that part off for now...

Looks like a good one forming up in this pick.  If my memory is correct HO scale is pretty close to 1/100 so you could make an EFGF supply train robbery or a Zeon ammunitions dump being restocked. Not enough trains in Gundam models IMO.

Wow I totally missed this back in May... But really nice. The mods fit the design well but seem to be lacking the extra panel lines the shoulders and chest have. I look forward to primer to see how it comes together.

Dioramas / Re: where have I seen this diorama??

That was done by someone here. Search around for Zaku Head and UC Hardgraph.

And thats why it sounded familiar... its the first result when I searched "zaku head" all the way back in July of this year.

Thanks guys these are the same methods I've tried before. Just helps to know I'm on the right path.

 fulcy, you're s'posed to oil your metal tools to prevent that.

The detail work & color choices are great. SMS resin is so nice to work with but how strong are the shoulder joints? Are the fixed? The weight of two funnel racks each seems the joints would wear out over time.

If you over-primed and had a glossy primer coat it would cause that. A matte finish will hold paint better. If the primer is glossy and cured hard a light sanding can save stripping and repainting.

Looking tasty. You've turned left overs into a gourmet model.

The power pole looks a bit out of place in the year Eleventy Billion.

OMG, the half-track idea is perfect, if I can find it at the right scale, most of the work will be done.

Judging from the size of the kit (10" or so) look at 1/48 and 1/35 scale. Careful not to get stuck with rubbery poly tracks in some of the more recent kits.

Glad to hear this is still alive.

I like Panzer and Sherman kits. There lots of variations and many are cheap.
