Model In-Progress / Musha Gundam 2.0
« on: December 27, 2010, 02:53:20 PM »
Hey, all. Long time no post. Been wanting to do this for a while now, but now I've got the cash to do it. Gonna try converting the Gundam 2.0 kit into a Musha Gundam.

I've got the base kit ordered, but I really want to get my hands on the weapons and some of the greebles from the Shin Musha kit. Is Rainbow 10 still offering individual parts orders? Or is there somewhere else I can go for them? I really don't want to have to order the whole thing, since I'm only going to be using a few parts, and the Shin Musha isn't much to look at when it's missing pieces.

Also, does anyone have a higher resolution version of that Katoki art up there? I think it's from the GFF Shin Musha figure.

Looking crazy good! They almost look life-sized.

I love the build, but I didn't expect you to start painting at this stage, since there are still a few holes and imperfections in the puttied areas.

The Wing Zero is an entirely new kit. The Musha MkII is based on the MkII 2.0 Titans Ver.

6
The 2.0 is my favorite design. I've never liked the Ver. Ka. I like the OYW design, but not as much as the 2.0.

Apparently it's not the popular opinion, but I'm desperately in love with that FA Gundam. Here are the scans fro Model Graphix: http://ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2010/04/gundam-non-gundam-updates-from-model.html

It's Castilene, right? I too would love to see some tutorial material on working it. I'm thinking about buying some. Which hardness are you using?

That's some crazy-good sculpting. I've never been able to get the hang of green stuff, myself.

Filmy, that's rocking so hard! Is that Castilene you're working in?

I've got two lists in the vein of this thread. One is the list of kits I want to see that could happen:

MG Epyon
MG Kampfer 2.0
UCHG Dopp Fighter
MG Vegeta

And kits I'd like to see that DON'T have a good chance of being made:

MG Nobel Gundam
MG Agguguy
MG Aries

Model News Feed / Re: MG Wing Gundam Announced For May Release

I'd like to see an epyon. Since the 15th Anniversary of Gundam Wing is coming, I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a few kits for it.

Also let's not overlook the announcment of the MG Musha Mk II. I like it a lot better than the Shin Musha RX-78.

Model News Feed / Re: MG Astray Blue Frame Coming...
« on: February 19, 2010, 09:02:04 PM »
So a little late with starting this kit but whatever. I started cutting the parts out last night and immediately noticed something interesting... an MG Gold Frame Astray is coming. How do I come to this conclusion? a lot of the blue parts are connected to the sprues in much the same way the 1/100 Gold Frams (and red and blue) were which is to place the nubs under the seam-lines so that the gold coating doesn't get damaged.

Now I wonder, what Gold Frame will they do? Another Amatsu?

I don't know if that's a compelling enough argument. The big thing in Japan in the last few years has been OOB snapping, where all the builders do is draw in panel lines and clear coat the pieces. I think Bandai's been putting sprue nubs in inconspicuous places to help avoid the white stress marks that appear when you cut the piece off of the sprue.

Still, an MG gold frame would fall in line with that same idea, since snappers are unlikely to repaint a red frame or blue frame gold.

Yeah, with big eyes it helps to make them a little cross-eyed. It create the illusion of focus on the figure's face. That's the secret to the muppets looking so lifelike. Their eye's are carefully positioned to imply a clear focal point. Looks miles better now.

Luca: I like how his suit has even more greebles and details than the mechs do. Like he's hooked up to a hundred different wires and lines when he's in the cockpit.

Foo: I have yet to find Super Sculpey Firm in a store, but you can find it pretty easily online. I've had a few issues with it because it doesn't seem to age very well in it's un-baked state.

I'm working on an MG Epyon Ver. Ka at the moment. These links are giving me some great ideas. And your SD Epyon is looking awesome! I like the length you've added to the feet.
