A friend on another forum suggested, when I realised that the figure closest to the cave looked like he could be holding something with a lure on it, to tempt the creature out in the open, that the bait should be a slice of Battenberg cake-  so, after a little surgery on the figure to get the pose just right:

And making a tiny slice of Battenberg, on a 'string' made from a guitar....

Not Gonna lie, I had to google this to figure out what Battenberg cake was. Very cool idea. The door pins are great too. I have to remember to look around me for items to use for scratch building.

Added a whole Battenberg, sliced, and with the customary grease-proof paper:

Poor Jonesy needed something to cheer him up after losing the arm, so the Captain gave him his own slice:

(I need to sort out the shiny uniforms, more matte spray required!)

Righty-Ho!  It's all finished!

I'll be premiering it at the Nineworlds Geekfest Convention at Heathrow this coming weekend, with a full set of photos here and on my little blog to follow:

https://nineworlds.co.uk/

There will be a strong Steampunk presence there, and a fairly big display of my work!

 :-)

Excellent. I looked at the convention web page and it looks fun, you should be in fine company. I bet you have the smallest Battenburg of all the displays though :)
