Painting/Priming / can one drybrush a clear paint on to a chromed part
« on: January 22, 2008, 04:58:17 PM »
hey all

I just got the MG Destiny Gundam Extreme Blast Mode model and I got all these silvered replacement parts and i was hopping some one could help with a question
I can't airbrush as I'l at work and there is no place to do it so i thought of a light dry brush effects I'll be using model masters clear blue and or tamiyas clear blue.

my only problem would be can clear paint be drybrushed with any good results?
thanks clifton

Hey Ho
Long time guy's!
I have yet another question.
I just picked up some Clear Clay from HLJ and it's cool stuff but I was hopping one of you had played with it as well.
I'm mainly wondering about this pot of clear varnish it looks like(though it could be hardener?)

« on: August 06, 2007, 09:27:27 PM »

PM me or get hold of me here
we'll make a deal

Hey all me again
I'm changing up from MG and PG's to the 1/400 scale ships.
and I was wondering if any one had put one together and if they had any pointers
thanks again

sorry for the no picture but Have a fit problem with the bottom abdomen armor (white part) for the Strike freedom-full burn. it seems the rail they have on the armor are to short to fit in the core frame
I have sanded down the support structure on the inside of the armor but it's still come up short.
but I was wondering if anyone had this issue as well and if there was a way to fix it.
now before you ask I do have the parts in the right way I even reversed the core body part to see it they were wrong but no dice.

would there be a substance out there that can be molded that will shrick unformly to be casted again
I guess it the oposite of the hydor casting agent that grows in water.
also this is not for modleing but for heavy duty use metals and such.

Model In-Progress / microman/zoid custom
« on: September 20, 2006, 02:11:01 AM »
hello all
well I got the bug again and decited to merge a micro and zoid together once more!
this time it's for the evil side and my first time using the new 03 body styles then from the 99/00 style these are my in prog pics, as I have to paint and modify more parts
but this is the start  It's a micro Scol acroyear and a  Hel Digunner zoid(Iguana Type) I started by sawing off the legs and hip joints for Scol then cut away the connect point for the multi-gun on the HD's back

the bits are two suspension struts from a sherman tank kit and some parts cut off from warhammer 40K guns, cut to fit and glued to some plasic stock then to eachother to form a brace for the hips and lower groin area to rest in
here's a view of the struts

the rest of the pics are just porgress pics as I slowly build it up.
I will be adding more stuf and repainting the whole thing
with weathering hope you enjoyed

Model In-Progress / Inner working of the MG ball
« on: August 26, 2005, 02:13:08 AM »
hello all
I just have to put some finishing touches on this ball and I'll be done
there's a little clean up painting and some going over but all in all the is was a pratice in hand painting metallics(as a friend of mine said it could not be done) I will say brush painting metalics is a pain in the ass
But I found sone Bronze by golden . the darker silver is velajo(sp) aged chain mail
and the silver on the web is from a silver metalic marker I bought at wally world
oh yea the copper was from golden and I used gun metal from Model master's

hope you guy's like it

and for those of keen eye the last picture in the lower left(facing) the darker area is battle bamage as the primer spit these huge bubbles all over the top portion of the ball
so I made it bubbled/ dmaged parts I think it added to the model.
I wish I could do the color change of heted metal by hand brushing
 ok it's time for bed
please feed back is much needed as this piece and the other ball mod are oing into a model competition in OCT

hey guys
I was hopping with all the great minds here that some one could point me in the right direction

I'm looking for a plastic that I can make into lightning/enegy arcs

the stuf I'm looking for is the same stuff that the STAR WARS figures have that simulate energy arks across droids.

I'm in the process of making a the God Gundam dio and want arks that run all over the arms and legs and run to the ground

but I have had no luck  trying to find the type of plastic or if I can sculpt or mold the peices.

sorry if this is a bit vague, I'm typing this as I have one foot out the door to work

Kit Specifics / A question on Strike gundam's Armor Off low Vis greys
« on: July 26, 2005, 09:07:46 AM »
I'm about to get two PG strike G's and I want to paint one of them in the armor off grey scheme
I was hoping some one would have done a strike like that and what they uses as far as paint color.
I'm thinking about using Model master SU-27 Flanker paint but I think it may be to blue
and I really do not want to go with Navy greys
please help
I'm also getting the sky grasper with them and as I have seen little to no Seed EP's was also wondering if the Aile pack also goes grey in armor off mode

thanks agin

Kit Specifics / Has anyone built the Resin MK V Gundam?
« on: July 12, 2005, 09:48:46 AM »
Hey list
I'm looking for anyone that has bought and put together the Resin kit of the Sentinel Mark Five Gundam and how the process went.
I'm Jazzed at being to get one but I read review a friend shot me from japan and his thoughts on the whole build up were less then good

I just want a second opinion
oh! and for those on the list who have never seen a MK
V Here's a link. click on the picture icons

Hello All
I just became a member to this form yesterday.
I found Fichtenfoo through Animation Scale Models 4U.
A little about me
I've been in to gundam since I saw the 1/144 scale models in a FL asian store at 6
I've been in to robot and mecha since i saw Star wars at age 2 1/2
but I've been in to gundam for the last 7 years and remember the 120.00 MG kits at import shops in Seattle in the late 90's

but I have come across some things in this forum that I have never seen at other forum

I guess the most important question is:
Is there a data base for all the BLK/White drawings that you use to figure out paint schemes. as I do not have a printer nor a scanner to do my own.
and is there a bilingual person on this board as it seems  the bablefish doesn't like my computer anymore and I can't shell out 70 to 110.00 for a translator program.

I love Gundam and have a massed quite a collection of MG's I tend to stay with the ground types. but I have a friend that's all about Z, ZZ, Sentinel.

OH that reminds me I just got a PG Zaku (first one) I what to do a really  ambious(sp)
paint scheme. I just need to know  any one had tried multiple level painting?

I want to do a  silhouette  break up pattern but do it in levels(it's Paint pattern then clear then paint then clear, rinse repeat)  that will give it a depth and
changeability .
and my question  is what paint/clear coat can i use in thin layers that will not be to thick and make it look like a blob of UGH!

I hope I explained well enough if not say the word and I will try to explain it more

thanks for any help
