Well, my son got me again! He asked me if I could build him another character. It's hard to tell him no especially when we both pretty like much the same stuff.  In this case it's Benson from The Regular Show. We instantly fell in love with this character! I mean...a gumball machine boss who flies off the handle in the blink of an eye! He's awesome!

YEAH HE IS!

Here's is the start of my build. The head will be made of a 4" plastic globe putting the height of the finished figure somewhere around 7-10"....

....his face and eyes....

....the start of his "hat"....

....next, his body. It started off as an old, dirty paint plastic paint jar. Then it was laminated with sheet styrene. The bits also styrene....

...early progress of clipboard...

...there you have it. More to come later.

Not sure of what you're using for the pink gumballs, but what about pink airsoft BBs?

I'd never watched it before you mentioned it, now I've been watching it on demand. Funny!

Sorry for the lack of updates....been studying for my next rank exam on the 22nd.

I agree. Actually, the first time my son had me watch it, I thought it was dumb until I heard Mordecai's voice. So funny! Then Benson flips out for no reason! Funny stuff indeed.

I actually went out and bought 9 packs of 3/4" wooden balls for the gumballs. I was going to go small but I figured I needed some thing to match the cartoon. Plus bigger balls...hehe  :P....will make it easier to shape the "5 o'clock shadow" that the gumballs sorta form. It's hilarious how the gumballs look huge but are actually small when they fall out of Benson.

More next week after my exam.

Never heard of the show, but it looks like an interesting little character. It's especially a bit of a departure from what you usually see on here :)

Recently, I've been digging out old started builds from the last move. Here's one I'm going to continue. First, I need to come up with a good hidden support system being as how Benson's legs are super thin. Then I need to finish up the face. I laser cut this face myself but I recently used Rhino to make a template of the face projected onto a similar sized 3D ball. I'm going to vac-form thin styrene and cut out a contoured face. After that it's really just gluing on the details and painting all them gum balls.
