I was wondering... since painting and building models is a really difficult task to make it perfect, how many of you actually play with your models once they're done?

Q. What are they?

A1. Amazing playthings.
A2. Amazing displaythings.
A3. Can change the pose once in a while
A4. Can be played with once in a while
A5. They can be played with?

... At 34, I'm more interested in putting together a good-looking model than I am an oversized toy.

I can barely touch them with out breaking them or ruining the delicate finish.

No touchy!
I wonder about the guy that can sit through a David Lynch movie and say, "I saw that coming."

A5. They can be played with?

Plastic models are not toys, I put a lot of hard work in to building a model kit, and I don't want to see them damaged.

So I don't play with them. :meh:

I can't leave mine alone.  I wouldn't say they're toys, but I'll go with A3, since I change the pose quite a bit.  To me, the ability to repose them is the best thing about Gunpla.  Otherwise I might as well build a statue.  Sure they get a little damaged (mostly by the kids), but if they get used up in the process of enjoying them, and getting my money's worth, so be it.  I just don't like the idea of spending all that time and effort on something that's just going to gather dust.  Granted, my works are nowhere near as nice as some of the peoples' posting here, so I'm probably not as attached to them, but for me the process of building is what I like about the hobby.  About a week after I finish a kit (or painting, or drawing, or song, etc.) I honestly couldn't care less what happens to them.

Since I build models of hot babes in skimpy outfits, I'd rather look at the models and play with something else!

I think of them as luxury toys--I do the bare minimum of painting to make me happy about the color scheme, and then they're playthings. Bandai already did a great job with its Master Grade kits, I see no reason to go the extra forty miles to work on something no one but me can appreciate (I'm surrounded by unbelievers...:()

Besides, I've got you guys churning out art--I just look at your kits and I'm satisfied.

I don't know, I would have to go with A3. I mean, whats the point of having a poseable model if you don't move it? However, when I was younger and building my tiny 5 dollar 1/100 Gundam Wing kits I would play with them, and break them... but now I would say they are built to be viewed.

Usually I'd change the pose around every now and again, see how I can make it "interact" with everything else on the shelf. My PG Strike is using the books on my shelf for cover, for example.

Sometimes I will pick them up and admire them a little--not admiring my work, but the design. I like to appreciate those things.

But playing with them? No. They're alterable visual pieces, not playthings. If I'm paying a price higher than my lunch for the week, I don't want to be damaging it.
The story of life is a long, brutal assault on your heart by the one who knows what you're capable of, and fears it--all the while pursued by the God who knows you deeply and loves you truly."

I have 2 collections. My Transformers that I pose as I see fit. And then I have my Gundams which I display and don't touch unless I need to dust. (I need to get a better display case)
