I generally build straight out of the box but change the colours slightly when I paint them. I've only recently started to weather and battle damage my works.

At present, I have only worked with 1/144 scale but I plan to move up to 1/100 soon.

That's some great work. I love the way you've done the water and the armour plating on the Acguy.

for shading, have you tried MAX style since you are using air brushing?

I haven't yet. It is something I want to try soon.

Ten out of ten for effort, and the paintjob is simple but seems quite good, but the pose is a real problem.  Lots of modelers, even experienced modelers like myself rarely bother with making the whole presentation - model, base, scenery, etc.  But it really makes for a much better presentation that way.  Just work on those poses and you'll be in business.  (But you did install the Zaku's shoulder armor backwards...)

Thanks! I'll try a few different poses, I'm a little limited on leg movement though, the right Zaku and left Gundam feet are glued down but I can still move the opposite legs on each model.

I feel that my painting still needs alot work though. These two models are my 2nd and 3rd airbrush jobs (and first with acrylics (my first airbrush job was with enamels unfortunately)) and I'm still trying to get the perfect sprays for the shading (I tend to pull my trigger back too far and let too much paint through).

hat's why I like to build kits in 1/100 scales - preferably MG - as they have better articulations and easier to work with...

I haven't done a MG yet but I will soon. I purchased a 1/100 MG Gouf (One Year War Version) yesterday and plan to start it soon. It's in my to do pile with the Hazel, Gouf Flight Type, another Zaku II and the Mass Produced Guncannon (these are all 1/144s). I'll definently be taking all of this advice on board when I do these kits.

Everyone's advice has been great so far, keep it coming!  :D

Thanks for your feedback guys.

I agree with the points you have put across. The pose does look a bit strange, I admit that, but it is hard to pose 1/144's the way I'd like (I'm not confident enough yet to scratch build new joints and stuff). I had a feeling that the Zaku's panel lines were way too dark (I used a black panel line Gundam Marker), I probably should have tried a wash or a grey panel liner.

Some things to take on, but it's the only way to learn!  :D

It's looking pretty good so far. Looks like it will be a good battle scene.

Hi all,

I've been a long time reader of these forums and I have finally decided to join up (to be honest, I've been putting it off because I'm a little intimidated by how good everyones works are compared to mine!).

I have found these forums to be the most mature, helpful and creative on the Internet. They have helped me out on many an occasion.

I'm relatively new to this hobby, I've only been doing it for a little over 12 months now, but I'm proud to show off my latest creation to you all.

For nearly the last 3 months (could've been sooner but work has taken up quite a bit of my time lately), I have been working on a battle scene diorama based on the 08th MS Team OVA. After many different ideas not coming to fruition, I finally decided to go with the following (there are some in-progress pictures in there too) :

08th MS Team Diorama

The Diorama

The Zaku II

The Gundam

I learnt quite alot whilst working on this project.

It was my first attempt at both pre and post-shading. The Gundam was pre-shaded, which I have overdone a little bit is some spots, and the Zaku II was post-shaded, which is hard to see because I didn't darken the shade enough.

It was also my first attempt at battle damaging and weathering. My weathering needs quite a bit a work but my battle damaging is quite reasonable (in my opinion anyway).

I'd love it if everyone could have a look at my work and give me some ideas on what I've done good and what I need to improve on. My goal is to one day be as good as the other modelers on these forums.
